Danish Science Communication

The organisation Danish Science Communication (DNF) was established in January 2001 by the people and the organisations behind the Danish Science Week. DNF is an independent, non-profit organisation with the purpose of increasing public awareness and understanding of science and technology through new and innovative initiatives in science communication.
The board includes representatives from universities, industry, schools and other educational institutions.
DNF has an office with 12 full-time employees, with degrees in science and communication.
The Danish Government meets 15% of DNF's operating expenses. The remaining operational funds are obtained by developing projects for ministries as well as sponsorships and donations from various private enterprises and organisations.
Non-commercial activities
One of the main activities of DNF is to coordinate the national science week that takes place every year in September (week 39).
Commercial activities
DNF works for both private and public enterprises on a consultancy basis. We offer ideas for web-based science communication, campaigns for increasing public awareness of science and facilitation of networks.
European activities
DNF is a founding member of EUSCEA - European Science Events Association, and DNF's director, Mikkel Bohm, was president of EUSCEA from 2004-6.
DNF is the national coordinator for Science on Stage.
